I initially had it brought to my attention by IndicThreads.com that Appcelerator Titanium is now available in beta form for developing iPhone Applications and Android applications using HTML, Javascript and CSS.  Note that you can also build rich desktop Apps using Titanium.  A Competing product is PhoneGap and open-source which also offers cross platform development.  This article by David Tucker is a great read Observations about Apple, the iPhone, PhoneGap and the Flash Player.  It provides some food for thought about Apple’s strategy to “lock in” developers to Apple’s development platform and avoid cross-platform migration flexibility.

On the way to becoming an iPhone application developer I took notes to make sure that I was actually absorbing the material. I hate searching for the same material twice so I collected my favorite links in the process to save other developers coming from other languages the time and to help them stay motivated along the way. This series is not directed strictly to Flash Developers. I collected resources from developers coming from Java, C#, Actionscript, C++, and Python . Initially I sought ways to avoid learning Objective C and Cocoa by using toolkits that allowed me to access the API. As I embraced the platform and got up the never to take the dive I focused more on learning Objective C so as to harness all of the power of the iPhone and the Cocoa Framework. I hope you find this compilation to be useful on your trip to the Appstore and on your personal iPhone Gold Rush. I also with you much success. I would like to send a gigantic thank you to the bloggers and podcasters who helped me learn this stuff and to the developers who kept me motivated by trying to learn Objective C with me and keeping me going (and reminding me not to whine too much). This is a work in progress and I will update if frequently as I add appropriate and helpful content to the blog.
